Russian  Blue  Kittens

The ‘Russian Blue’ comes in colours varying from a light shimmering silver to a darker slate grey. They develop close bonds with their owners and are sought out as pets due to their personalities, beauty and coat. It is their short, dense coat which has been the hallmark of the Russian breed for more than a century.

The Russian Blue is a naturally occurring breed that may have originated in the port of Arkhangelsk in Russia. It is believed that sailors took Russian Blues from the Archangel Isles to Great Britain and Northern Europe in the 1860s. The first recorded appearance outside of Russia was in 1875 at The Crystal Palace England, as the Archangel Cat.

The Russian Blue is a curious and tranquil animal. They are known for their friendliness and intelligence, and can be somewhat reserved. They have been known to play fetch with a soft ball, open doors, and are sensitive to human emotions. They often develop loyal bonds to their loved ones and other family pets They are generally considered to be a quiet breed.

Russian Blues have an average life expectancy of around 10–20 years, some have even lived up to a maximum of 25 years, and have few health problems as they tend to have little to no genetic problems and are not prone to illness.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

Please be aware of un-registered RUSSIAN BLUE kittens, with reasons such as “the parents are fully registered” or “these are only pets” or “you can see both parents“. In these circumstances you could well be buying a kitten from two adults that were not suitable for breeding from, from a brother and sister mating, or from a cross mating such as with a blue British Shorthair.

Some breeders will show you a four or five-generation certificate, again as these are usually printed from the home computer they mean ‘nothing’ unless you also have the GCCF registration card.

There are also a number of fake advertisements using other breeder’s photographs, and mine asking for deposits for non-existent kittens.

One of my photographs is so widely used on fake adverts, various websites and for computer wallpapers, I have even been reported for using it on my own adverts resulting in my adverts on Pet4homes being shut down.

However as the image is so widely out there I decided in 2017 to put the image in the public domain, meaning anyone can now use it for free as it was pointless trying to shut the image down with it being so widely used.

Please do not fall for these scams, always make sure that the kittens are registered with the GCCF, Tica or FiFi, and that you are getting a certificate card at the time of purchase, never send a deposit for a kitten without verifying that the breeder is registered and has a prefix which can be checked and confirmed by either emailing or phoning the relevant registration body.

Early Neutering! Be warned, new evidence backed by UC Davis in the U.S is showing that dogs that have been neutered at an early age affects their long term health, including joint disorders, cancers, urinary incontenence, one would assume that the same could apply to cats likewise.
